ELENA SULIOTIS

Dear Mr. Vincenzo Birli,
there is no mistery about the death of my mother Elena Souliotis. Just privacy. She had a sudden heart failure, and I couldn't (probably nobody could have) help her.
She was the Queen for you, for me she was the person I loved the most and ever will.
And also I have to prevent you talking about my father as a bastard. Whatever happened to make their relationship fail is none of our concern. He has (and is) always been there when we needed him, and has always been in important friendship with Elena.
And we love him very much.
My best regards to you and to all you that wrote on this page.
Thank you!

I would like more information on the Death of the Late Singer Elena Souliotis/Suliotis.
There has been nothing mention about this great singer who died at such a young age. Why is her daughter, Barbara keeping this such and secret? And where, does her divorced husband, Maestro (Bastardo!) (escusa, per me.) Guarini have a say in this? The idea, that they are keeping it such a secret, makes me wonder was foul play involved or was it suscide involved. Because, if she died from an alignment, then what is the big secret. I feel, that her daughter, owes her late mother's dedicated Opera Lover's some insight, not leaving a message... to inform the Opera World! I would would appreciate your response on this topic. If, possible please respond in english. Thank You Very Much.
P.S. Elena Souliotis, was my Queen when it came to Singing and as an individual. Many thanks...

Dear Barbara,
It is I again, Vincenzo. I don't if you ever read these, Email's that fan and great admires of your Dear Mother, Elena. I check to see if there are any responses. I just want for you to know that I just can accept the fact that she is no longer with us. After, reading interviews that she has comment, this is a women full of Energy! I would have suspect the other Opera Singers, like that of Tebaldi. Oh, she was also great. However, I did find Tebaldi taking on challenging roles like your mother did. I have just found out that she had did a performance in Otello. This I saw, in an inset searching through yahoo. It shows her on stage as Desmona. I know that she was Fantastico! without a doubt. As I was saying, your mother being this energetic person. I am presuming that your Grandmother, is not alive and for some reason, I feel, that this has taken a great toll on your mother. However, with no disrespect to your father, I am not sure if the break-up happened before or after your mother's passing away. I am hoping that it was before, because, after a great loss losing one's dearest mother/grandmother, one would need the greatest support ever in a time of need. I have in my possession, actually 2 lp albums of your mother's recordings of Anna Bolena, Macbeth, Luisa Miller, etc. I am not please of the photo that was used on her CD release. It makes her look older. If you have this album there is a great difference. Your mother not only had a Beautiful Voice but, she also had the Beauty to go with the voice! At 61, is a very young age for a women. It is noted that especially in Greek Culture, Women tend to out live men. I sincerely, feel that there should been more atributes "credit given to your mother. Because, she did not possess many records, that does not mean she has not done many performances. I want you and anyone who is reading this to know that I even wish to have the same techniq in singing style like your mother. And, I believe that I have. at age 51, I was diagnose, of have this beautiful and Powerful Baritone Voice, from my coach. I was so thrill to receive this criticism. Although your dearest and long missed mother was in my eyes and I'm sure in many other's. A GREAT DRAMATIC SOPRANO! well I hope I can achieve the same greatness only as a Baritone. Age is a Number, that is all. I Love Your Mother Voice and Singing Style. I expected Tebaldi to pass away, Not Your Mother. Again, I am very very sorry for your GREAT LOSS. Please, if you do read these Email's have the courtesy of acknowledging us. Thank You.
An invitation to all and any ..please..feel free to share your feeling with me at xxxx@xxxx.com. With Great Sincerety" Admiration, Vincenzo A. Birli, NY, NY

Macbeth a Genova 1970. Avevo 12 anni. Grazie Elena!

Dear Barbara,
I am Vincenzo. I have been trying to in touch with you. I have let messages on a voice mail service. I truly, feel for your Great Lost! I have, walked your foot steps. Death is definitely, a bitter pill to swallow. However, hearing about Renata Tebaldi passing away, I had the queery feeling; and as I was scoping thru the Google website, I had entered your mother's name. I was hoping not to see any sad news! But, as soon as I saw your dear mother's name, a cold flash passed thru my body. Your mother was my idle! and I was her defense, should a deterring voice make any unwelcomed comments! I was calling back because, I wanted to know how she was. Also, to inform her that I have come accross the Norma, that I was seeking. I remember you mother at the time that I had spoken to her, you were then only 3 years old. I am still shocked to know that we no longer have, in a phsical sense, but in memory she is eternal! I know these are going to be hard times. But, if you are like your mother, you will get thru and become stronger. I don't know what your goals are in life. But, if you decide to follow your mother footsteps, please keep me posted. Italy, has suffered 2 Great Losses. But, your mother is the GREATER of that because, she had a style like no other Soprano that I liked and you can hear it in her singing. I am sorry, I had never had the opportunity to see her or even meet her in person. If, you know that there are videos of her made or hopefully, soon to be released, will you please keep me posted.
Again, I am sorry of 'OUR' Great Lost. I am sure I speak not only for myself but for many. Take Good Care of Yourself, Barbara.
Ciao, Vincenzo!

The Opera World lost it's last great dramatic soprano. Souliotis is second to Callas only because she did not record or perform so many roles like the older singer. But what she did sing and record is most convincing- dramatically and musically. And that's what opera is about !
I did not have the opportunity to see her on stage, but I remember when I first heard her voice, a broadcasting of Nabucco. I could not believe what I heard: Prode guerier - Abigaile's address to Ismael. Those chest notes remained with me ever since. I had tears in my eyes.
Lady Macbeth, her last complete role for Decca, showed her vocal decline, but it is still THE "Lady" of one's dreams. Anna Bolena was regal, Norma most convincing and dramatic. Since then, there was not a singer to compete with her in this repertoire. What a loss!
May she rest in peace.

What a pity this great soprano took too many roles which destroyed her voice. For me a wonderful Abigaille (with Tito Gobbi on Decca 1966). Recently I found a pirate HOPE of Luisa Millar, apparently from 1962, which seems rather early and is not to be found in www.operaclass.com. Does anyone know something more specific?

I am writing a 'hommage' to Elena Souliotis for a magazine in England. I would love to hear from anyone who has particular memories of seeing her on stage. Also, does anyone have the e-mail address for her daughter, Barbara, to whom i would love to write, and ask some questions. I was fortunate to be present at Souliotis's London debut in 1968, and i heard her several times at Covent garden in her great roles as Abigaille, Lady Macbeth and La Gioconda.
Best, Patrick

Pure, io scrive in inglese... I had written, about Elena Suliotis, regarding, some years ago, having the privillege to speak with her on the telephone, from Brooklyn, NY to Italy, in Firenza. I have been trying to locate her, because, there are no listing in Firenze. Her mother, went by the last name "Souliotis", this is however, I had the opportunity to speak with her. I remember, telling her that I was studying singing, and now I have Flourished. I always, visualize singing "Nabucco" with her. Can you please (Per Favore, rispondi, a mio lettera) respond to my letter/email. Mille Grazie!

Regina Elena Suliotis!
La Princepessa di Greco!
I am writing because, I am a fond admira of Elena Suliotis. I remember, having the opportunity in speaking with Signora Suliotis. If, she does read this email. I hope that she can recollect, having a conversation with me, sometime back about 1984/85 (could be off by 1 or 2 years), it was after hearing her final opera with the Chicago Lyric .. in the Love Of Three Oranges. as Fata Morgana. Fantastico!, I am fortunate, to have come across, a few of here recordings, Lorely, Cavalleria Rusticana, "Nabucco", Anna Bolena, Macbeth, La Forza del Destino (complete 3 cd's) also, 2nd to her prize of Nabucco .. "Norma!". The last that I recall, she lived in Firenza, somewhere on a road, "via incontri?" However, I do remember, she was telling me that she had a daughter and was then (don't know statis as of present) to a gentlemen of prominent. I have missed her immensely. I had try to track her down, but! with no success, until now. I have been seeking the rare recording of her "La Gioconda." However, still till this very day NO ONE CAN FULFILL THE ROLE OF ABIGAIL. She is by Far TRULY A PRINCESS!
I hope that I have another opportunity to speak or communicate with her again. I remember, she was very kind and had sent me some photograph's of her in costume. I also, remembered, of asking at that time, was it possible to her to obtain a copy of "NORMA". Wherever, she may be I do hope she will recieve this email! I remember telling that I was studying at the for opera and was diagnose as a Baritone. My goal in life was to the opportunity, to either sing a duet or opera ... especially ...Nabucco!
Grazie Tanto Princepessa, Regina mio Cuore!

Elena Suliotis!
