A initiative of solidarity started this week in Athens, through an agreement between the publisher ETPbooks and the Association "Xamogleo tou paidiou " (The child's smile). The publisher has made several copies of his Greek cookbook "Oh so greek! Oh so good!" available for sale (which can only be made online at www.etpbooks.com) so that 33% of the proceeds will be used to purchase goods and materials needed by the Association, to support and help hundreds of children in their care.
The book is in English and therefore is aimed at those who use or know this language, anywhere in the world.
The amount collected will be delivered on 10 January and 16 April, to buy gasoil for heating, medical supplies, food and any other necessary items to give these children in need a more dignified life. The Association "Xamogelo tou paidiou " (www.hamogelo.gr/1.2/home)has been working for several years in child support and is known internationally. The worsening situation in Greece regarding childhood conditions (300,000 children living below the poverty line and in the absence of the most basic support) is beckoning allvolunteers to make a gesture of solidarity.
Whoever agrees to the purchase will not only receive the book (be it for personal use or to make a gift) but, as detailed in the site, will also make a small gesture and earn a thank you and a smile. For transparency reasons, the entire project is being followed by a lawyer who will officially verify all the donation procedure.
